I was this, nay this close to calling this blog end of an era, in reference to Harry Potter, seeing the final movies in 26 hours, from.....NOW. However the reason for not calling the blog that is because it’s just too painful. Well that and it wouldn’t go fantastically with my douche photo

I really need to start.. sorry, stop spending so much money, but I still have some things I want to buy, not to mention an impending trip to Brisbane to see my Lions take on the Suns. Man I hope they win, they lost the last time I was down there (earlier in the year). Mother is coming down this time too, so they better win!!

I also have an intended trip down to Adelaide in September, another driving trip, woo! This time, trying to con my cousin in to flying up, to drive back down with me, so will see how that goes. Not to mention a desire to buy a 6TB Western Digital Hard Drive to hold and back up my iTunes files (they are starting to kill my iMac’s onboard storage, which is about 2TBs & the iTunes file is about 1.5TB). It’s unfortunate I live in Australia, wanna know why? The drive I want, while cost $549 in the US, costs about $700 plus in Australia, meanwhile the 4TB version in Australia costs about the same as the 6TB in US. WHAT THE FRAK!?

So much like a previous blog post, where I put a subliminal liminal message out for a 4TB hard drive, I’m now putting the call out for 6TB model, show me the money people. Show me the money!

Finally, yes this is likely to be a small blog, you may have noticed a small change to the ole Artistic Bull, no this is not Version 2.0. I’m still writing this in iWeb and the site updates were all done in iWeb. I do have Dreamweaver and I’ve been playing around with it, which has been enough to let me know that I doubt at this rate I’ll have V2.0 up and running by New Years Day. I will definitely aim to have it going by then though. looks like I need to learn about PHP so I can adjust or create a Wordpress Theme per my designs. The current look of the site is, I guess you would call it a precursor to version 2.0. So let me know in the comments what you think about it

Alright I’m calling this blog, enjoy some photos below & peace out

DCKF
I’ve Google+ invites, ask me about them

Really should call this blog Blow Out Weekend, I mean it’s what the Album is likely to be called after all.. ah stuff it I was starting with “I just need somebody to love”, can’t be bothered now.

you know that saying about “it’s like riding a bike?” yeah my blogs are nothing like riding a bike. If anything it’s like riding a crocodile, on a unicycle with a square wheel. I’ve just been sitting around here, watching the Lions take on the Dees (can’t believe Hanley missed that mark). Really having a hard time getting my thoughts on screen!!

My plan was to recap my, what feels like ages ago; but was only like a month ago, trip to Melbourne to see Top Gear. Either my attention is being stolen by this game (highly likely) OR it’s been so long that my ... what was I saying? Oh classic crap memory of mine. let’s go with attention stolen by the game!

Did I mention that recently I’ve bought a new Macbook Pro? No? well I best see if I’ve taken a snap shot of that

...

Nope, apparently I never took one, though I do have a photo of my hairy face! which I shall strategically place either directly at the bottom or somewhere to the right, just a smidgen down... OR here! I could take a photo about now, but I’m feeling lazy and can’t be bothered attempting to get the lighting right so you can see the difference between the two (I still have my 13” MacBook) do love the new MacBook mind you. it is some what bigger and inherently less portable then the MacBook but the expanded screen real estate makes it easier to do more at once. Where as with the Macbook I’m now kind of using it as a specialised task machine. (ie twitter is running on the Pro, along with YouTube, whilst on the MacBook I can only see iWeb. Still haven’t moved everything over, which is something I was going to do today.. but I dunno just been feeling lazy this week.. and last week.. and the week before.

Other than that, I’m about to hit 24. Which is crazy, it doesn’t really feel like I have done all that much since leaving school (a little over 5 YEARS ago) Guess it’s time to start thinking about what I want to do. I’ve put my move to Adelaide on hold for a year, Maybe my 25th Birthday is the day it all starts happening (procrastination ftw!)

Right let’s see if we remember the haps of last week. week? I mean month!

So flew down to Melbourne on Thursday the 10th, Business class baby... but not from Darwin to Alice Springs, because “apparently” there is no Business class on that leg, stooped!! Had this weird as breakfast, it was like an omelette but with, I don’t know? Salsa in the middle it was nice as! Randomest part of breakfast was the pieces of potato (yes you can find a link to all the photos, including breakfast, here!)

Caught up with a colleague at the airport, in the morning, they were on the way to Sydney I think.. but turns out there was a thunder storm within 5 Kms of the airport so my plane was delayed, fortunately I was in the QANTAS Club, Finally got on board and flew off to Melbourne... via Alice Springs. Got to Alice Springs thinking “oh yeah, because of my delayed take off from Darwin, this will totes lower my stop over in Alice” ... I was wrong, dang it!

Finally got Melbourne around 3pm Melbourne time, got off the flight and called my cousin, who was popping over from Adelaide, I beat her over, booyah!! and also found the birds, inside the airport, double booyah!!

After picking up her bags, then her blood (aka coffee), then her oxygen (aka a ciggie) we called my Aunt, who we were staying with and waited in the miserable weather that was Melbourne. They don’t actually live in Melbourne, but on this beautiful large property out whoop whoop (well whoop whoopish) and this was my cousin’s first trip so there was the obligatory tour. However I basically had a prior engagement at the pub, so wasn’t there long!

The next morning involved eggs, mmm eggs!

This was also the morning of Top Gear, so had to make sure we had all our tickets and what not. Headed into the city via a train, bought some lollies (they have a lolly shop like right there and you pick your own!!) did some walking, hopped on a Tram, had some coffee, caught up with my Uncle, gave him his ticket (he was still working) had more coffee, more walking, then took a train to the Melbourne Show Grounds. I was wearing jeans at this point, expecting the night to be cold. I think that was a bad idea, because it was apparently one of the first times they had a proper summer day. It was hot!

Did a lot of walking around outside Top Gear, really should’ve got more photos of the cars and events. it was so massive, especially compared to Sydney’s one in 2010. I hope they have it in Melbourne again next year. or even back in Brisbane, I keep going to different cities! But I still had a great time. As with last year, did the corporate ticket thing, which was good. nice cool drinks and fantastic mini eats!

My only gripe, was because soooo many people had paddock passes it was hard to appreciate all the cars through the butt load of people and the public transports last train left like 20 minutes after the show ended. Not much time at all, you need to perfect the elbows up method. Otherwise a fantastic show (I know this because it felt too short!) great seats; first row, directly in front in the middle. Spent a portion of the show with Clarkson, May and Jacobson standing in front of me & the self conscious bastard that I am had this stupid grin on my face the whole time, part because I was hoping to not look stupid if the camera caught any of me (mission failed) and part because IT WAS SO COOL!

So we took the train back to the train station, as you do, I think it’s the Southern Cross Station? and as we were pulling in I look to my right, POURING out of the MCG were Essendon and Collingwood supporters after the NAB Cup final. Oh. My. Chuck Norris. It was epic. I so need to see a match there! Needless to say, made dash to the next train so we could get some seats. It was a long ride back home, late at night.

The next day, we had breakfast, then headed into town to see markets.. the name of which I can’t recall the name of. Started with P, I think?
<-----Segue ----->

When flying into Melbourne, QANTAS showed off these Bratwurst sausages, on the TV, the power of suggestion was too stong, thus I mentioned that I wanted to try some bratwurst, while in Melbourne, hence the trip to the Markets, which were SOO cool. I also had some Bratwurst at Top Gear Live. it was amazeballs

<-----Segue ----->
then had to drive to the airport, to get me off to Adelaide, was a bit touch and go for a bit. got there with minutes to spare. But I was flying business class and only had carry on, so it was all good. Hopped the pond to Adelaide... except there is no pond, caught up with a friend in Rundle mall and basically did a lot of walking & amazeballs chocolate!

That night I saw Wil Anderson. Loved him, he was insane fun to watch and listen to, coincidentally when flying back to Melbourne the next day. I was sitting behind Tim Minchin. OMG Star Struck! Initially I was meant to fly back to Darwin Monday morning (like stupid early) I fixed that. But yeah, t’was a great long weekend, I loved it and was buggered after it all. But would do it again at the drop of a hat!

Anyway, so that’s my recap. sorry about the quick wrap up, but it felt like this was getting too long, go take a look at some photos here

Amazeballs AWAY!!!

DCKF
I pretend it’s an older Aaron Carter singing when Justin Bieber songs come on

Well strike me down like Zeus did the Titans… or was it Hercules that did that? Now there is a movie I haven't seen in a while, if the X-Files marathon ever ends I may get around to that…

Really all this awkward one way chat was really a cleverly crafted rouse to lower your anger at the fact that I slipped some what from my approximate 2 week update schedule. This explanation of said rouse is in fact a sub-section of the rouse, to indicate to you that I haven't forgotten about you and that I feel guilty, in theory negating all negative feelings about the lack of posts replacing them with sympathy for me.

Did it work?

….

Guess not. I'm sorry alright?! There I said the S word, and I'll say it again & again, because that's how I roll, I'm a please, tell me I'm pleasing you… (whoa this devolved quite quickly into something scary didn't it?)

Speaking of two weeks; guess what happens in two weeks? Now come on, I haven't been shy about it… Really nothing? wow your memories must be as good as mine

How to tell your memory is as good as mine:
You put on the washing; it stops… 20 minutes later you put it in a basket to hang it up… 20 minutes later you remember this and eventually hang it up

In two weeks time, really it's a couple days less, I'll be in Melbourne watching the Top Gear boys, Then Adelaide to check out Wil Anderson. Finally flying back to Darwin to take part in the made rush that is National Submission time. I have a sneaking suspicion that I will be slightly under the pump working on other people's submissions. We'll see.

How to tell your memory is as good as mine:
You crack a Bundy, sit down and write a blog, remember 1/3 of the blog later that you did this and don't have said drink

You may be wonder what the image is that you're seeing attached to this blog & why it’s crappola proportioned, it's a rough example of what I'm thinking will become the ArtisticBull brand image. I'll be more concerned with it when I stop using iWeb to upload the site. At the moment my Dreamweaver timeline may have been pushed back a little. Which is fine because as evidence by a simple blog I clearly have not the time to invest in such a mammoth task right now, I'm still hoping to launch Version 2.0 early 2012 however, may even aim for Midnight New Years Eve!

Anyway, just a brief little update to let you know I'm alive and that I hope to regale you with stories of brief sleeplessness (insomniac Tuesdays and Thursdays; it's a thing. Seriously check my tweet stream on a Tues/Wed or Thur/Fri) come two weeksish, when I return from Melb (when I tried to type that the first time the Dictionary changed it to weakfish?!)

The RED dot marks my spot!

You know what? I completely forgot there was a cyclone in Darwin while I was away. When I say away, I mean I was here for it, but I wasn’t blogging, like duh! Any way photos and a video available here... i got some video taken after the Cyclone had visited, so I plan on getting around to that and making it watchable but at the moment the audio would offend copyright laws and I don’t want to get on Google’s bad side, cause I seem to be getting the good stuff early at the moment. Also I was tweeting about #NotTCAustin, so read those while you can! & if my search is anything to go by... you can’t #sadface

Finally, I like what I did last post with the whole photos in blog, so I’m keeping that up. Enjoy some photos from the week(s) that was/were

Peace Off

DCKF
I like to leave my brackets open-ended

And soooo….

we, uh, you know? meet again. As has become our way, we're totally rocking that odd couple vibe, me basically talking to myself. And you being the mostly fictional being in my mind that I picture reading and chuckling at the obviously deranged mentality of the writer, nay crafter, of such literary desires contained herein.

Worst part is, I didn’t get to taste any of that delish looking Jim Beam *sniff* *sniff*

Sorry for that brief interruption.. which I suppose you will also need to imagine since I can't really relay said interruption in the form of words or ellipsis's or anything like that. But just know it's for a REAL good reason. I'm watching Chuck whilst crafting this awesome imagery (it could be worse, at least I waited until after watching Gossip Girl to start writing or else this could have been some weird blend of crazy scheming AND then crazy funny (<- can I do that another bracket inside the bracket?! this is getting to be like Algebra; by funny I obviously just mean weird/silly)) that's right I closed that statement good and proper.

Wow seriously… episode 13 of Chuck feels like the end is nigh. like really nigh.

Upwards and onwards me amigos; first, enjoy the awesome that is my current iPhone hold screen.

Yes my friends, that is Hamish and Andy. poking you. in the spleen. initiating a tickle war. Good luck beating their wrath

(see now I'm watching Young Justice, this is literally shaping the story that spews forthwith from my mind, see My Name is Earl episode in season 3, not sure which ep number).

Speaking of My Name is Earl, the rest of Season 3 awaits. Fortunately I've been watching it slowly enough that I haven't had to worry about finishing Season 3 and not having any of Season 4. I was meant to buy the disc at work today, but I kinda forgot...

a little like how I was meant to take Dad's mail to the hangar to be sent over. Whoops!

If I needed Season 4. And by need, I mean like literally once Season 3 ended I would force myself to get it, need I would of ended up with Season1-3 on disc and 4 as an iTunes only watchable digital copy. Now you didn't know this about me, but I'm a little bit of a purist. I like to keep a full series on the Same Format (though I have branched out a bit in terms of Smallville and Supernatural, where by the more recent Seasons are on BluRay. Not going to lie, the instant convenience of iTunes copies is almost instantly outweighed by the limited ability of how to watch; would like a bit of DRM freedom on that sh!t, but alas this will NEVER happen.

I mentioned the Holiday didn't I? That is the holiday to Dili for like literally the weekend. Flew outta Darwin early Saturday Morning, flew back into Darwin Monday arvo. It was an alright weekend, albeit with a somewhat few unexpected moments. But what's done is done. I've spent sometime doing that reflection thing, posted a sappy tweet or two, maybe a Facebook post and viola, nearly living the ignorance dream again.

Anyhoo I'm off for more Hillbilly Hilarity, enjoy some photos below (the rest are here)

Merry Christmas

DCKF
P.S I totes Pinched & Punched the crappola outta you today on the First of February 2011, suck it!

And here we are yet again, another blog post from yours truly AND almost on a fortnightly schedule!!! (yeah I wouldn’t keep your hopes up .5s it’s not likely to keep up).

As per my first blog post of 2011 (ha! nearly wrote 2001, let’s do the time warp agaaaaiiiiiiinnnnnn) I just did a pricing of Dreamweaver CS5, I’ll either be picking that up early February or March... I know right? it’s actually happening!! I don’t have any massive aspirations, I’m not expecting to grab dreamweaver and just be like BAM instant website. My tentative timeline for now is to “launch” it in 2012.

which could mean I end up being like 8 years behind, what with the speed that the web & tech progresses. But what the heck I’m already like a billion years behind. In the intervening time between now & picking up Dreamweaver, I’m going to start reading up about using it etc. and designing the new look site. Will let you know how that goes, might set up a second area on here that’s related specifically to ArtisticBull V2.0 (we’re at about V1.3 at the moment).

Other things I’ve been looking into? A PO Box, this damn frakkin’ weather is starting to bug me!!! First my Nintendo Magazine, then my Game Informer, at least the Nintendo Mag didn’t look too bad; but my Game Informer? totally fudged up the monkeys!!!!

Back from work, re-read that paragraph RE PO Box. What was I think?!? ‘sif you’d get a PO Box to protect your gaming magazine right? (secretly fills in form to order PO Box).

I don’t know if I’ve mentioned that I was getting a Kinect (let alone got one!) So guess what?

I GOT A KINECT!!!

Buuuuuutttttt (lol butt) funny story; let me interrupt this, literally, hilarious story to, as Wilson Tang (that’s too separate links, be tee dub) would say “preface” the situation: I got a kinect mostly because of Microsoft’s CES Press Conference & not because the games speak to me. I am that fickle.

back to your regularly scheduled hilarity:

Turns out that, as first expected when hearing about the Kinect, the room with the X360S in it, is too small BADOOMTSH (I should try find a sound bite for that!) I managed to plug it all in no problems, and turned on the 360, installed the mandatory update allowing me to use said Kinect, then started V1.0 Minority Reporting my way through the menus, until I realised my hand was jumping all over the place, in a way that no human hand could. I looked down somewhat concerned & noticed... my hand was doing jack! (no not jacking, dirty mind) I came to the conclusion that this was because of two things; poor lighting & the fan throwing off my movement. So the fan went off, not a light hearted decision when you live in Darwin! and the light went on.

Things were running smoothly.... until I attempted to get Kinect to recognise me automagically, therein the smallness of my room came to the fore! If you haven’t set this up before, you basically have to hold a pose and stand a certain distances away from the camera, in order to stand further away I was basically on knees “standing” on my couch. Kinect didn’t enjoy this and basically pimp slapped me and said, biatch try again, so I tried pushing the couch back, straightening up the TV Cabinet, pushing the TV so it was practically half off the cabinet. Needless to say after all this.... it still wasn’t enough. I gave up and the Kinect is now sitting on the TV cabinet, doing a whole lot of nothing. My next plan was to set up my first X360 in the lounge room and use the camera out there. I couldn’t be bothered & still haven’t been bothered

Do you remember in Metallic Bunnies, where I was all like “I’mma be doing a lot of traveling, be jealous!” then I went on to rattle off a couple of the planned trips? One of which involved going to Top Gear Live in Melbourne, then hoping a plane to Adelaide to see Wil Anderson?

wellllllllll in the same day that my Game Informer mag got ruined by Mother Nature and her pure dislike of video games, I also managed to receive, completely undamaged (because Mother Nature loves her some Wil), my tickets to Wil’s show at the Adelaide Fringe. Win!

Hmmm... I think I’m running out of topics to touch on. Got Volleyball happening tomorrow, pretty sure that’s going to hurt. I know the first couple games hurt me last week. Literally... that’s about all I have left to discuss. Be on the look out for a Blog post coming early Feb recapping the third trip to Dili.

Finally, I will leave you with this thought: Butter Chicken is the bomb, enjoy! (I know I did! Darwin peeps, it’s from Garam Masala, go get some!)

Aight I’m off to figure out why the first photo isn’t linked to & showing up next to the blog post on the home page, then I’mma upload this. Hope you enjoyed.

DCKF
Have you come across these cans? I was literally stumped, when this was dropped off at my desk in the morning. I had no idea how to open it.

Turns out you twist it, then you get a smiley cyclops!
and a big drink! (it’s a bigger can!)

let me know what you think about the main font? I’m thinking it’s too small on some browsers
so it seems the last time I blogged was November, I think my love affair with it just temporarily subsided. it takes a lot out of me this time of year. Work-wise, mind you at the moment, with the newbies it isn't as bad.

onwards and upwards; deep into 2011 we shall go until bursting out the other end into an unsuspecting 2012!! But alas that shall be a blog post for another year. For now let us focus on the beginning of 2011. I'm normally not one to reflect on years gone by, nor do I think I shall be today either, or to celebrate the incoming year. However with Nick being up on leave, figured why not. all in all? It was a great night, throughly enjoyed it.

Couple funny stories from the new year:

•	Ended up getting home at about 4:30, only to smell something funky. Being drunk, and previously finding a dead bird in the pool (was typing "pool in the bird", whoops!) I thought nothing of it and went to bed (for like an hour?!?!) Arose the next morning to a more pungent smell. Was chucking something in the bin and came across the picture to your left. As I was somewhere in between drunk and hungover, I grab a bag from the bin, picked up the rat and… threw it in the bin whoops!? So Sunday morning ended up having to move it from the bin to the compost bin; it was covered in maggots and STANK!!

•	Mother walked into my room as I was playing a video, and as is her prerogative she decided to do some cleaning, ripping some sticky tape up, which I had just put on my tv cabinet, taking some of the wood-like laminate (or whatever it is!) with it. Adamant she could fix it with brown shoe polish, she set about rectifying the issue...

Got a few things I'm looking at doing this year, including lots of travel around Australia. Heading to East Timor for a weekend at the end of January; Mid March flying down to Melbourne (going to Top Gear Live again!) while I'm down there, looking to pop over to Adelaide to catch Wil Anderson; Going to Brisbane at least once in May to see my Lions play at the Gabba against Gold Coast! (this will occur a few times this year hopefully); Was looking at moving to Adelaide sometime after March and I promised to head back to Perth at some point. Not to mention, should I not move to Adelaide, will need look at going down for the Ram Sale 2011.

Not sure if I will drive down this time; will have to think about that. thoughts? (being a QANTAS Club member I should look at racking up those frequent flyer points! Not to mention using the QANTAS Club).

Anyway, here's wishing you well in what you decide to do this year and keep an eye out on this site; this is the year! (the year I get my butt in gear & work on the site itself!)

DCKF

Curious about the title? well it relates back to the first funny story. Later that day we were discussing this with my sister; some how we got on to the subject of superstitions, which then got us on to the topic of zodiacs. we were, incorrectly, thinking that last year was the year of the Rat and so the dead rat was symbolic of the years end. btw yes it will be the year of the Metal Rabbit as of 3 February 2011.
